The Voice of the Healthcare Industry Market Outlook 2021<\/em> survey was designed\u00a0by Informa Markets\u00a0to understand\u00a0the impact that the pandemic has had on four key areas of the industry:\u00a0manufacturers and agents,\u00a0dealers\u00a0and distributors;\u00a0clinics and medical practices;\u00a0private hospitals and public hospitals;\u00a0government and health regulators;\u00a0and charities, non-profits and NGOs.<\/p>\n

A disrupted healthcare industry<\/h2>\n

Through\u00a0GRS Research & Strategy Middle East we asked 1,600 respondents worldwide about the financial and operational impact of the events brought by the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The survey also\u00a0looked\u00a0to assess how the industry has responded\u00a0to the pandemic, and how key players have evolved their\u00a0business\u00a0strategy. We also asked participants to reflect on how the future\u00a0will look,\u00a0and what key trends they are now anticipating.<\/p>\n

Key findings<\/h2>\n

A number of\u00a0interesting shifts have taken place as a result of the pandemic and its impact on the industry, which will play a key role in overcoming the pandemic:<\/p>\n

  1. A more cautious outlook<\/strong>.\u00a0While still relatively optimistic, the industry is predicting less of an increase in turnover than in 2019.<\/li>\n
  2. Value-based healthcare is the future<\/strong>. The industry recognizes that it needs to become more cost-effective and sustainable from the ground up, rather than chasing trendy buzzwords.<\/li>\n
  3. Attracting local patients<\/strong>. With the future of global travel still uncertain, the industry needs to target more local business.<\/li>\n
  4. Healthcare is moving online<\/strong>. Telemedicine has become a larger focus for a world where face-to-face contact remains a risk to health.<\/li>\n
  5. Technology\u00a0is still catching up<\/strong>. Tech overall is having less of an impact than expected.\u00a0Gaps in tech skills are closing, but not in line with their implementation.<\/li>\n
  6. Eyes are on the GCC<\/strong>. This region has extremely strong prospects.<\/li>\n
  7. Medical practitioners are feeling more valued<\/strong>. Doctors and nurses have been on the frontlines of the pandemic, and their work is recognized.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
